On 29 April, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s third "Spa Forest" (Kurwald) was ceremoniously opened in Krakow am See by the Minister for Climate Protection, Agricutlure, Rural Areas and Environment Dr. Till Backhaus together with Mayor Jörg Oppitz, the head of the state forestry, Manfred Baum, and the originator of the Spa and Healing Forest idea, Prof. Dr. Horst Klinkmann.
The 18-hectare forest area of the "Spa Forest" is located on the three peninsulas Lehmwerder, Ehmkwerder and Jörnberg and offers a fantastic view of the surrounding lake. The "Spa Forest" provides its visitors a Kneipp water treading facility, balancing and climbing facilities as well as a viewing plateau with barrier-free access. The health-promoting effect of the forest can thus be optimally used by young and old.
The development of the forest was supported by the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (ELER). Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been investing specifically in the health potential of the forest for a long time. By setting up our International Certification Office Healing Forest at the BioCon Valley® GmbH, we promote the use of forests for health purposes internationally as well.
Together with numerous guests from politics, forestry, therapy and tourism, we enjoyed the opening of the "Spa Forest" in Krakow am See very much. A visit to the "Spa Forest" is absolutely recommendable.
