The healing forests and spa forests of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern made it possible: At the 117th German Baths Day in Göhren, the Bäderverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e. V. received the ESPA Innovation Award in the category "Destination" for its project "Healing Forests and Spa Forests in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern".
By awarding the prize, a distinguished jury of experts recognized the development of healing forests and spa forests with very high quality standards, a health-oriented focus and accompanying medical research as a pioneer project in Europe. And finally, the sustainability of this innovative health offer also convinced the jury.
Since 2012, initiated by Prof. Dr. Horst Klinkmann, the Bäderverband MV has been working as a project sponsor for the development of healing forests and spa forests in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the meantime, five of these special forests have been established, and seven more are being implemented or planned. As part of the project, the world's first children's healing forest was designated on World Children's Day, September 20, 2021, in the seaside spa Heringsdorf.
